Pressure is applied to diaphragms on either
side of a measuring cell, each deflects
minutely and proportionately to the pressure,
the resultant difference in the pressures/deflections
is measured and transmitted as an output.
As an example: as a filter blocks the pressure
difference between the ‘upstream’
and ‘down stream’ sides increase,
a DP transmitter can monitor and alarm to
tell you when it needs cleaning.
